The project AYE means Action Reseach for Youth in Europe funded Erasmus+. This participatory action research is conducted in cooperation between Non-Government Organizations working with youth who need support, and the University of Applied Science.

The objective of this project is to

  • promote action research as a concentrate method for youth working and build sustainable societies,
  • identify ´Third Space´ as a new learning space,
  • consolidate cooperation between universities and civil society organizations which work with young adult, and
  • strengthen knowledge on action research and youth in the humanities and social sciences.

The main coordinators from Rennes, France are The University of Social Science EHESP, and Coop’Eskemm. Coop’Eskemm is a Rennes-based research and animation cooperative specializing in youth policy and sociology of public activity. By combining scientific research methods and public education methods, they support collective actions to support the social, economic, cultural and political emancipation process of young people. The other international partners and projects are from Bologna, Italy and Lisboa, Portugal and Helsinki, Finland. The university of Bologna and TITIVIL are cooperating in Italy for the accommodation for the homeless people. The Universidade NOVA De Lisboa along with the organization EBANO are working on a similar target group as Bolognia.

Local partner of Finland is HUMAK University of Applied Science along with Valo-Valmennusyhdistys ry. The plan is for HUMAK to develop existing courses by adding the theme of participatory action research. The course will be implemented in between 26 February to 30 April 2025. During the process, the students of HUMAK will collaborate with AYE project workers and carry out participatory research.  The result from different third spaces of Valo-valmennus  and possible others will be represented by student groups on 7-8 April at Valkea Talo of Helsinki.
