#PreventGBV

The Project #PreventGBV (abbreviation for prevent gender-based violence) aims to develop and implement early intervention methods to prevent gender-based cyberviolence among youth involved with the juvenile justice systems in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Finland. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic we have seen a global rise in cases of gender-based cyberviolence as a result of the increased use of the internet and cyber-based platforms.

Our goal is to change this trend among youth that are involved with the juvenile justice system by focusing on the following six objectives:

  • understanding how gender-based cyberviolence is experienced within this target group,
  • improving the target groups digital skills; specifically teaching them to identify, prevent and object to gender-based cyberviolence,
  • increasing the target groups commitment and participation in raising awareness about gender-based cyberviolence,
  • developing knowledge and skills related to the prevention of gender-based cyberviolence among professionals working with the target group,
  • raising awareness about gender-based cyberviolence within the target group among communities and families and
  • producing knowledge, sharing good practices and promoting networking among relevant institutions, organisations and professionals

Prevent GBV is an international project with partners in five countries. Our partners are Fundación Diagrama Intervención Psicosocial and University of Barcelona in Spain, Aproximar, Cooperativa de Solidariedade Social in Portugal, Centre for Lifelong Learning in Romania and Don Calabria Institute in Italy.

The project started 01.01.2022 and will continue until 31.12.2023 #Prevent GBV is co-funded by the CERV-2021-DAPHNE Program of the European Union.
